I put the brand new beast battery from the M3 into the X5 and it slightly improved the lowest voltage possible at idle up into the mid to low 12's (still not satisfactory I think) and cruise RPM charging is still in the 13's usually around 13.7.. Maybe a little low.. Not much change, effected no other symptoms..
Thanks all for the replies, I have seen the messages already for the remote battery, but I wasn't sure how long the BMW battery should last, but at least I know its unlikely to go without warning. We run Holden Rodeo's in our company fleet and they have been notorious for suddeny battery failure after 2.5 years with very little warning.
The P0172 DTC means that the car’s computer has determined that the fuel system is running too rich. The alert was set off on Bank 1. A rich-running system means that there’s either too much fuel or a lack of oxygen in the air-fuel mixture. Bank 1 indicates it’s located on the side that contains the #1 cylinder.
Drives: BMW X5 45e. Join Date: Sep 2021. Location: California. iTrader: ( 0) Turns out the AC compressor failed causing the battery issues. The part is on backorder until November. The dealer called me today and they want their X5 loaner back and will put me into an enterprise SUV with $65 a day cap. I am furious.
The vehicle’s electrical system relies on a 12-volt battery to power the lights, radio, and other electrical components. If the 12-volt battery is failing or not charging properly, it can cause a drop in voltage, triggering the warning message. Here are some potential causes of low voltage and how to fix them: Failing 12-volt battery

One of the main lousy alternator diode symptoms is a battery that drains overnight, essentially mimicking a parasitic drain. Other less common symptoms include stalling or battery drainage while driving, battery warning light, and dim lights. Essentially, all these symptoms can indicate other faulty components like an old battery, a faulty
That means you’ll need to pay both parts and labor costs. The average replacement cost of an idle air control valve is between $200 and $600. The parts could cost anywhere from $60 to more than $400, while the labor is between $150 and $400. Of course, the labor cost really depends on the hourly rate of the mechanic.
